Mortgage Department Manager

Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Mortgage Department Manager to join our Ashland Credit Union business at our Ashland, Kentucky location. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the credit union function. This position will report to VP Mortgage and Business Services.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop, apply, and evaluate mortgage loan policies and procedures that are up to date and in compliance with all state and federal regulations.  Ensure staff training and compliance with such.
  • Develop reports and analyze department and industry trends. Look for opportunities to either reduce risk, improve service, or increase profitability.
  • Prepare, implement, and supervise the department budget that is consistent with ACU’s overall annual plan and operating budget.
  • Monitor the residential loan marketplace for changes in industry trends to ensure ACU loan rates and pricing remain competitive.  Improve current products or develop new products and pricing strategies for residential mortgage products and home equity lines when changing trends dictate.
  • Oversee relationship with ACU’s third party mortgage provider including the identification of loans to be sold on the secondary market.
  • Mentor, coach, and train staff. Evaluate employee job performance to ensure staff are well-trained and knowledgeable in all aspect of their job duties and performance is aligned with ACU strategic goals.
  • Work with marketing department to develop marketing campaigns and strategies for increasing mortgage loan production.

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field required
  • Minimum five years’ management experience in a progressive financial institution preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain a professional, courteous, and friendly atmosphere for member and staff

    Mortgage Loan Processor

    Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Mortgage Loan Processor to join our Ashland Credit Union business in Ashland, Kentucky location. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the credit union function. This position will report to Mortgage Vice President.

    • The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

      • Collect and verify employment, financial data, asset, and liability information. Calculate member’s monthly income and expense ratios.  Follow up with members via telephone, email, or face-to-face to obtain necessary documentation.
      • Answer member specific questions related to the mortgage process and assist the member with deciding the correct mortgage product to meet their needs.
      • Provide all applicable disclosures.  Calculate closing costs and provide member with loan estimate.
      • Coordinate and satisfy follow-up requests from underwriters. 
      • Order and check credit report to determine credit worthiness.  Request and evaluate real estate appraisal.  Request flood certification to determine if property is or is not in a flood zone. Request and evaluate title report and/or title commitment.
      • Prepare closing package.  Research and resolve all items in the closing package to ensure closing process is on‐time and documentation is complete and accurate.
      • Knowledge of conventional and government loan programs, including FHA, VA, and USDA loans. Knowledge of mortgage lending regulations, including the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Truth in Lending Act (Reg Z, TILA) and the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA).
      • Conform with all Fair Lending and anti-discrimination laws set forth by the NCUA and other applicable regulatory bodies.

    In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

      • 2+ years’ experience in mortgage processing or similar role
      • High school diploma or GED required.  2-year college degree preferred.
      • Ability to multitask in a potentially high pressure and time sensitive environment
      • Excellent mathematical and statistical aptitude
      • Independent worker with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate clearly and professionally

    Engagement Specialist

    Ashland has an exciting opportunity for an Engagement Specialist to join our Ashland Credit Union team at our Ashland, Kentucky location. This is a very visible role within the Credit Union. This position will report to the Marketing Manager.

    The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Build and cultivate strong relationships with ACU’s current select employer groups and eligible communities using traditional and digital marketing methods.
    • Build, manage, and maintain a portfolio of businesses and prospective businesses to assist in meeting new membership and loan goals for the organization.
    • Build top-of-mind awareness of the credit union and present products and services through phone calls, in-person visits, and digital media while fostering a relationship and increasing business.
    • Assist in creating business development materials.
    • Initiate and maintain contact with business partners and SEGs and schedule on-going visits to promote Credit Union membership.
    • Researches all communities / regions we serve for community events for involvement and participation.
    • Perform market research to identify new business opportunities to grow membership in the assigned territory.
    • Develop and deliver educational programs, presentations, seminars, or other digital content to build loyalty and add value to ACU membership.
    • Advise management and marketing department on trendsetting ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements.
    • Participate in and arrange frequent visits to job sites and company events (such as company outings, open benefits enrollments, new hire orientations) to inform potential members about ACU products & services, answer member questions, and maintain relationships.
    • Work in coordination with Cottage Grove, MN location to discover, identify, and explore potential partnerships and opportunities within eligible employer and community groups using traditional and digital marketing methods.

    • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field.

    Vice President Business Services, and Mortgage

    Ashland Credit Union is looking for an experienced financial executive to join their team as Vice President over Collections, Business Services, and Mortgage. Reporting to the Executive Vice President and working in collaboration with the senior management team, this position will oversee the mortgage, and business services departments by identifying industry trends and performance indicators, recommending new programs and services, and continually evaluating each department’s strategic direction. This role will assist the Credit Union in living out its mission of building lifelong financial relationships in order to maximize the financial well-being of the members, by providing outstanding service to both members and employees. 

    In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

    • Masters degree in business administration or related field is required. 
    • At least ten years’ leadership experience in a progressive financial institution environment is preferred. 

    Credit Union Teller 

    Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Teller to join our Ashland Credit Union business at our Ashland, KY location. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company. This position will report to Assistant Member Representative.

    The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Deliver service in alignment with ACU’s Service Standards, Policies and Procedures.
    • Cross-sell credit union products by answering inquiries, informing members of new services and product promotions.
    • Responsible for making sure all appropriate regulations are followed when conducting transactions. Ex. OFAC searches, Third Party Authorization Forms, Currency Transaction Reports, Suspicious Activity Monitoring.
