Privacy Policy

The Ashland Credit Union ("ACU" or the "Credit Union"), serving individuals who are or have previously been employees of Ashland Inc. ("Ashland"), or any of its current or former subsidiary or affiliated companies and the spouses of such individuals, is committed to providing financial products and services that will enable you to meet your financial goals as well as protect your personal information and use it in a manner consistent with your expectations. This a high priority for everyone associated with the Credit Union.

OUR COMMITMENT:

The Board of Directors, Management and Staff of the Credit Union are committed to protecting the confidentiality and privacy of all members’ personal information. We will continue to assess our organization and systems to ensure your privacy is protected.

Based upon a high level of commitment to our members, the following procedures and policies are in place:

ACU collects, retains and uses information about its membership only as a business necessity in order to provide products and services.
ACU limits access to our members’ personal information to those employees having a "need to know" business basis for such access. Credit Union volunteers, members of the Board of Directors, Supervisory Committee and Credit Committee may have access to certain confidential information in order to fulfill their responsibilities.
ACU has personnel policies in effect to ensure the protection of members’ confidentiality and privacy.
ACU maintains high levels of security procedures to prevent unauthorized access to member information.
ACU maintains members’ privacy when a vendor provides a product or service for our members such as check printing services, data processing services, statement processing and CUNA Mutual Insurance products.

ACU employees, as well as Board members, Supervisory and Credit Committee members, sign a "Code of Conduct" which specifically requires that all member information be kept confidential. Failure to abide by the "Code of Conduct" may be grounds for employee termination or removal from the office for volunteers.

ACU employees, as well as Board members, Supervisory and Credit Committee members are bonded and insured.

Information We Collect

In general, the ACU collects only that information which is necessary to provide you with the services you request. This may include names and addresses, tax identification number and any additional items you authorize, such as income and expense information and credit history. We may also collect verification of your identity, such as your driver’s license number, mother’s maiden name or PIN number (on our automated system) to protect the security of your account.

Access to Your Account

Other than a temporary outage due to equipment malfunctions, you will always have access to your personal Credit Union information. As a member of the Credit Union, you will always have the opportunity to review your information and to make changes to ensure that records are complete and accurate.

Sharing Information

The Credit Union will share information only to administer the products and services provided, when required to do so by legal government order or when we partner with other businesses to offer a broader array of products and services. The Credit Union will partner only with other businesses that follow strict confidentiality requirements. Under no circumstances will the Credit Union authorize these firms to charge your account without your consent. The ACU will not sell member information to telemarketing firms, or will it partner to share your information with any other services such as mail houses, etc. Providers will have access to your information only as necessary to complete the transaction(s) that you have requested.

Credit Bureau

Information may be exchanged with credit bureaus and similar organizations, only when legally required or permitted.

Legal Process

If we receive a subpoena or similar legal process demanding release of any information about you, the ACU will generally attempt to notify you (unless we believe we are prohibited from doing so). Except as required by law or as otherwise described above, the ACU does not share information with other parties, including government agencies.

Disclosures of Information About Former Members

Upon termination of membership with the Credit Union, information about your account will not be shared with others, except as permitted or required by law.

OPT-OUT NOTICE

You have a choice when it comes to how your personal information is used. Any member of our Credit Union may elect to keep information from being shared with our business partners, as permitted by law. You may exercise your choice not to share your information by contacting us at (800) 245-8112 or (606) 329-5489 or sending us an e-mail at help@ashlandcu.org. We will take all reasonable steps to make sure your request is followed and at least once a year we will remind you of your right to choose.

Note to non-member joint account holders: Anyone of you may exercise the right to opt-out, even if you are not actually a member of the Credit Union. The ACU will treat an opt-out request from any one party to an account as if all parties to such account directed us to not make disclosures to nonaffiliated third parties to which the opt-out right applies.

We have organized our websites so that you will not be required to identify yourself or reveal any personal information in order to view our websites. At times, we may ask you to provide information about yourself or your company in order to better serve you. If you choose to provide this personally identifiable information, we will use it in accordance with this Privacy Notice. What information do we collect?

Information Collected and Stored Automatically
